The Army Remains Committed to Its Obligations, While Continued Israeli Attacks Obstruct Its Efforts and Threaten Stability

In light of the recent developments, the Army Command wishes to clarify the following:

In a new wave of widespread and condemned attacks on Lebanon, the Israeli occupation has, over the past few days, escalated its targeting of residential areas and institutions, causing a large number of martyrs and wounded, the latest being at least twelve martyrs, including children and women, in a massacre in the town of Kfarreman – Nabatieh.

The continuation and escalation of these attacks by the Israeli occupation, in parallel with the brutal demolition and detonation operations in the South, leaves no room for doubt regarding its aggressive intentions, contradicts international laws, threatens the existing understandings and arrangements, obstructs the Army’s efforts aimed at establishing stability, and represents a flagrant violation of Lebanon’s sovereignty and security.

The Lebanese Army has demonstrated full readiness to implement its commitments since the signing of the Framework Agreement and has begun taking the necessary measures to establish operational control in the model areas, in coordination with the Military Coordination Group for Lebanon, in accordance with the plan prepared by the Army Command, noting that full agreement has not been reached on the phases concerning these areas or the subsequent steps.

The Army’s measures included:

• Establishing six fixed checkpoints and thirteen observation posts on the roads leading to Zawtar al Gharbiyah, Froun, and Srifa, as well as inside these towns.
• Conducting foot and vehicle patrols around the clock.
• Removing and confiscating weapons and unexploded ordnance, and preventing the presence of armed groups and unauthorized activities in accordance with Lebanese laws. Specialized military units confiscated approximately 1,818 weapons and munitions, including 10 rocket launchers, 7 rockets, 6 drones, 51 projectiles, 10 aerial bombs, and 1,560 pieces of light ammunition, in addition to a large number of mines and explosive devices. These units also opened roads with a total length of approximately 12 kilometers.
• Searching a number of residences in accordance with Lebanese laws and with the owners’ consent. In this regard, residents showed full cooperation with the Army’s measures aimed at removing sources of danger and munitions left over from the war.

In parallel with the operational measures, military units took measures to ensure the safe return of residents by removing rubble, opening roads, and activating civil-military cooperation activities aimed at providing residents with basic needs. Military units also participated in recovering the bodies of the martyrs.

These measures enabled the Army to establish operational control and control movement into and out of the area of operations.

In Zawtar al Gharbiyah, around 70% of the residents were able to return to the town and inspect their properties, but only 16% of them were able to resettle, equivalent to 60 families out of 450, as the Israeli occupation completely destroyed 85% of the residences and partially destroyed 15% of them.

In contrast to the Army’s commitment, the Israeli occupation forces did not comply with the agreement, with the number of violations reaching approximately 7,700 from the date of the signing of the Framework Agreement on June 26, 2026, up to the present date. The Israeli occupation also opened fire in close proximity to Army personnel and patrols.

These repeated attacks and violations, particularly the most recent ones, have led to a new wave of displacement from areas that had been considered safe. They have also confirmed that the objective of the Israeli occupation is to undermine the credibility of the Army within Lebanon and before the international community.

Ending the attacks and violations is the essential factor for the Army to complete its deployment and carry out its missions in accordance with the Framework Agreement.
