Funeral of Retired Major General Riad Takieddine

On August 30, 2026, the Lebanese Army Command and the residents of Baakline – Chouf held the funeral of retired Major General Riad Takieddine, who passed away on August 29, 2026.
The funeral procession began in front of Ain Wazein Hospital – Chouf, where a detachment of the Military Police and the Army Band rendered the appropriate military honors.
The body was then transferred to the Community Hall in Baakline – Chouf, where the funeral ceremony was held in the presence of the representative of the Minister of National Defense Major General Michel Menassa, and the Interim Lebanese Army Commander– in-Chief General Hassan Audi, who delivered a speech in which he stated:
“Despite the difficult circumstances surrounding the Army’s missions throughout various periods, our dearly departed never wavered in the slightest from his commitment to military duty. He remained steadfast in his mission, faithful to his principles, and deeply devoted to the interests of his Army and his country.
On this occasion, I express my deepest appreciation to the family of Major General Takieddine and assure them that the military institution will remain faithful to his sacrifices and will continue to stand by their side with all the means at its disposal.”
