Raids and Arrests following gunfire and armed demonstrations during a funeral ceremony in Bebnin - Akkar

The Lebanese Army Command - Directorate of Orientation issued the following statement:
On 01/05/2024, following gunfire and armed demonstrations during a funeral ceremony in the town of Bebnin - Akkar, on April 28, 2024, and after monitoring and surveillance operations, army units supported by patrols from the Intelligence Directorate in Menieh - Akkar, conducted raids on the residences of those involved, resulting in the arrest of 10 individuals and the seizure of firearms and ammunition.
Armed demonstrations and gunfire represent a breach of security and impose a danger to the lives of innocent people. Therefore, the Army Command affirms that it is actively pursuing the shooters, arresting them, and referring them to the competent judicial authorities.
It also calls on the concerned parties to demonstrate responsibility, exert the necessary efforts, and cooperate with the security forces to contribute to preventing practices that undermine security, guided by a sense of national duty, especially during this critical phase that Lebanon is going through.
