Receiving of a Donation to the Army Under the UNDP Program
A ceremony was held at the Logistic Brigade Headquarters in Kfarchima to receive a donation presented to the Lebanese Army under the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), funded by the European Union, with the aim of strengthening the Army’s humanitarian demining capabilities.
The ceremony was attended by the European Union Ambassador to Lebanon, Ms. Sandra De Waele; the UNDP Resident Representative, Ms. Blerta Aliko; the Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations representing Army Commander-in-Chief General Rodolph Haykal; as well as a number of officers.
During the ceremony, Ambassador De Waele delivered a speech expressing her pride in the European Union’s longstanding partnership with Lebanon in humanitarian demining operations, emphasizing the EU’s continued support for the Army in this field through strengthened cooperation with the Lebanese Mine Action Center and the Engineering Regiment.
For her part, Ms. Aliko stated that this donation contributes to enhancing Lebanon’s ability to respond safely and effectively to the threat of unexploded ordnance, protect civilians, and support stability efforts.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, Brigadier General Haidar Skineh, Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations, presented a letter of appreciation on behalf of the Army Commander to Ambassador De Waele, commending the role of the UNDP and the European Union in supporting the Army during this exceptional period.
